Not bothering to defend the indefensible

Remember that new law that Mormons demanded California voters enact, Prop 8?  Well, the obvious challenges are forthcoming, but Governator Schwarzenegger has said that there won’t be much of a fight.  He’s declining to send anyone to fight the challenges.  This means that with the exception of what is likely to be a mountain of amicus briefs, there won’t be anyone sitting at the table representing the State of California at the various Mormon Church v Human Rights trials.

Which, if you think about it, means that the challengers are going to get an un-blindfolded opportunity to take a baseball bat to a motionless pinata.  Let’s hope they don’t fuck this up.
